I am JoAnn.   I made this page just to introduce myself a little bit.

I am 47 years old and have 3 grown children.

I am happily married to a man I met through the internet in 2003. He moved to Arizona from Vermont.

We were married July 7th 2007

I have  lived in Salome for 10 years and I have been a La Paz County employee for over 4 years.

In case it isn't obvious I have a passion for Horses. I also like photography and graphic design. I am sure that is obvious as well.

My other hobbies are  landscaping, flower and vegetable gardening and I keep a flock of chickens for "homegrown", free range eggs..

One major goal of mine is to someday become a member of  "The Longrider's Guild".

To become a member one must ride an equestrian journey of at least 1000 miles. But the reason to do a long ride far beyond becoming a Longrider's Guild member is best described by my friend Andi Mills... HERE

I want to start my ride in Parker Arizona and finish in Lincoln City Oregon. I hope to make it happen as soon as the household can survive without my income for 4 months- Maybe "When Pigs Fly" --But hey , everyone should have a dream.

My Past In a nut shell...

I was born in California in the 60's. I have 1 older sister and 2 older brothers.

Our Mother passed away when I was 4 ,(Our brothers were already on their own by than) A sort time later our Dad moved my sister and I to Portland Oregon. We later moved to the "Burbs" east of Portland where we grew up, married and raised our own families.

I am "Mom" to 3 sons which now are young men. 26, 22 and 18.

    ... (FACE PAINTING ANYONE?)

My oldest son is married and they have 2 children. My "middle" son is not married but in a "LT" relationship. My youngest ( the "artist"  on the left) who made the Salome Frog image on the upper left-hand corner of my pages is presently living near the Oregon coast with his Grandmother and Father. So I guess that means I am at "The Empty Nest" chapter of my life.

When my Dad was 85  his health was failing and needed help. So we moved from Oregon to Arizona  in July of 1997. (I would highly recommend moving here in October, NOT JULY!)   We arrived in Salome July 3rd. I remember our very first day here it was 115 degrees!

I soon found work in Wickenburg and moved there 8 months later. We lived in Wickenburg for about 3 years. After my Dad passed away in 2000, I took over the  payments of his home and moved back to Salome.

I worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant since I was 17 years old until 1999 when I started a House Cleaning business in Wickenburg.  After 7 years I was beginning to have knee problems so in 2003/04 I took some internet classes to learn photo restoration and web design. Than in November of 2005 I applied for a driving job with the county and they hired me on the spot. It isn't full time but it's local (which is important when one lives in the middle of nowhere). During my "free time" I do photo restoration , graphic design and create web pages. The schedule I have now suits me well. I enjoy the variety.

I created "Desert Hues Photography" two years ago. The site needs a major overhaul. I plan to totally rebuild it from scratch in the near future and I hope to have it finished before the end of  2010. ( But don't hold your breath!)

My goal for "salomeaz.com" is to provide a "gold mine" of information for travelers, winter visitors , people new to the area as well as year round residence. I plan to have a classified ads page up soon as well as a message board so keep checking to see what's new!

Please bear with me as I am still learning all this web design business but I think it's coming together nicely..

Me and my best friend when I was 14. ~ Those were truly my best childhood memories. I just wish I had that much confidence in my riding abilities now.

  My first horse.

When I showed the first symptoms "Equinitis." There is no known cure so everybody will just have to DEAL WITH IT!

ABOUT BLUEHOST

If you have ever considered getting your own DOTCOM  and are at a loss as to who to sign up with I highly recommend BLUEHOST!

After weeks of reading opinions on various forms I picked several hosts that seemed to be the most often recommended I narrowed them down  by running them by all my "computer geek" friends. Bluehost stood out the most.

2 years ago when I was ready to publish Desert Hues Photography I did a lot of shopping and asking around.

I just renewed my 3rd year with them.

Their tech support is excellent via phone or chat. Believe me I use them a LOT! ...
